Understanding the need for an organization that would focus solely on developing the lives of our youth was the catalyst for The Journeys For The Prize Foundation and its Yes We C.L.I.M.B. initiative. We asked ourselves how impactful could we be if we combined mentoring with historical travel, history, and community service.
The Journeys For The Prize Foundation will mentor a group of approximately 20 African American school-aged youth in grades six to eleven over the course of a year, teach them their history, others’ history, engage them in service projects and commence the year with mission and historical travel, nationally and abroad. Our goal is to develop driven, service-minded, global citizens who in turn will give back to their communities and who will be prepared to make a difference in the world.
The “prize” at the end of the journey, we hope, will be students who are finding their purpose/calling in life and working diligently to reach their fullest potential. Additionally, it is our mission that these youth will also impact the lives of youth in Africa through their service work, thus empowering children around the globe.
